Mandau is a traditional weapon of Dayak people of Borneo.This is also known as Parang llang. This sword has a convex shaped side and another concave side. Pandat
Pandat is from South East Asian and was a sword used during wars. Pandat was never used as a tool, as it was only meant for war. Like Mandau Pandat was from the Dayak people in Borneo. This sword has a single-edge blade with iron hilt and it has no real handle, just a piece of iron that passes through the bottom part. When using this sword it is easier to cut through things with an upward cut, since this will produce a higher balance than a downward cut. Surik
Its a legendary weapon from the Timor islands. The Surik has been known as a sacred weapon which therefore is very respected and honoured by the Timor tribes. It has a characteristic of a single edged blade, with the width of blade narrows from bottom to the tip.Legend says that not everyone could use the sword, if it’s the wrong person the sword will turn against the person. By knowing the legend, it has a true point that this weapon is a surely not to be played or abused. In conclusion the surik sword of Timor is one part of the precolonial culture of Indonesia that is still a national treasure until today for Timor society. |
