Parang Ilang
Originated from east and south Kalimantan. It was inspired by Arabian sword design, however it has a wide blade, which sets the difference. This weapon does not need any prestigious metals. One of the unique features is the blunt and concave shoulder of the blade. This weapon is considered traditional and has a length of weapon is 80 cm. This weapon is included in the machete family as it functions for hunting and adventurous venture into the jungle. Last but not least, for sure this parang comes handy as a personal defense weapon |
Parang Landung
Originated from East Kalimantan and was specifically made from the Kutai area. This weapon has a long length of 125 cm and was very handy in helping to get the rotan branch and shrubs. The front side is very sharp and yet the shoulder of the blade is also blunt as the ilang. Both types of parang are actually considered as a common tool and not a heirloom like the Mandau or keris. In conclusion both are effective for cutting trees and branches in the forest |
